HMO Video Footage from the NSFPO Demo

On Thursday, April 9th at 10:00 am, we gave a live demonstration of HMO to the Napa/Solano Fire Prevention Officers Association (NSFPO) Fire Station 37, 1200 Kentucky Street, Fairfield, CA.

At this event, we demonstrated:

  • Wet weed obliteration to down to bare earth
  • Fuel modification in Juniper brush
  • Grafitti (paint) removal from a concrete surface
  • Weed removal in a drainage ditch

The NSFPO group is made up of fire and life safety professionals, building officials, fire sprinkler and alarm system industry representatives from within the Napa and Solano County area of Northern California.

Its mission is to provide a clearinghouse for ideas, questions, and a way to share information on current fire, building, and life safety issues.

News: Golden Gate National Recreation Area Showcases Hydro-Mechanical Obliteration Technology at 2008 Cal-IPC

At the 2008 Cal-IPC Seminar the Golden Gate National Recreation Area showcased a study conducted by the National Park Service illustrating the effectiveness of the Hydro-Mechanical Obliteration (HMO) technology in controlling a number of invasive plant pests in sensitive habitats.

A copy of the GGNRA study in PDF/PowerPoint format can be downloaded at:

Green Away Plant Control delivers services using a patented and patent-pending technology for weed, invasive species, and brush abatement. The technology produces superior results in less time than other existing solutions, and is also a better choice environmentally in many situations.

  • HMO is 5x to 8x faster than current methods

  • Can save you up to 25% on your budget

  • Eliminates the exposure to herbicides

  • Can be used year round

The technology has been used by:

  • The National Park Service/GGNRA
  • Firemen's Fund, Novato CA
  • Cheda Knolls HOA
  • Friends of Corte Madera Creek (CA)
  • The County of Santa Clara
  • Cosumnes River Preserve, Galt, California
  • Caltrans
  • City of Oakland: Wild Fire Projection District
  • and many others.

The patented technology uses highly-pressurized water capable of obliterating weeds, defoliating brush, and cutting down trees. Hydro-Mechanical Obliteration (HMO) can use non-potable water and does not require pesticides, chemicals, or other environmentally hazardous products.

Hydro-Mechanical Obliteration does not generate heat, and no steam is produced. Although HMO uses water, it pressurizes the water so dramatically that a relatively small amount of water can be used on large areas of land.

Hydro-Mechanical Obliteration is a fast technology. A skilled operator can clear an area in half the time or less than required by cutting or mowing technologies. It can be used on red flag days in areas that are high fire hazards where chainsaws and other mechanical equipment aren’t allowed. It can overturn or mulch the soil to discourage the regrowth of undesirable species. Finally, high pressure (above 10,000 PSI) HMO units can clear areas that are extremely challenging if not impossible to clear using other solutions.

In summary, we provide a targeted, non-chemical, vegetation-mulching weed control process. The process applies to:

  • Invasive Plant Control and Eradication
  • Sensitive Habitat Conservation and Restoration
  • Fire Prevention/Defensible Space Compliance
  • Green Waste Source Reduction
  • Right-of-Way's Maintenance
  • Park & School Ground Maintenance
