WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Horticultural Associates is a professional consulting firm dedicated to the sciences of horticulture and arboriculture. Specializing in the technical understanding of plant and tree growth, we act as an independent information resource providing assessments, recommendations, and management options.
Our full range of tree and plant consulting services focuses on problem solving in the commercial landscape and urban forest. We conduct tree inventories, prepare tree management reports, and develop tree preservation plans. We also conduct plant problem analysis, pest and disease assessments, structural evaluations, and soil and irrigation investigations.
Our background blends practical experience in commercial plant propagation and production with technical expertise in the areas of horticulture and arboriculture. This unique combination allows our clients to benefit from an uncommonly rich body of knowledge and insight. Our arborists are certified and our company founder, who holds a degree in Environmental Horticulture, offers a high level of expertise accumulated over three decades of experience. Our firm’s extensive knowledge of tree and plant species, as well as its comprehensive understanding of the various environmental conditions that affect plant growth, are the foundations of our success.
We will provide you with a pragmatic management solution to optimize the growth, appearance, and performance of your trees or plants. Our experience will enable us to generate design recommendations and management options tailored to your needs.
As arboricutural and horticultural experts, Horticultural Associates assists a wide range of clients including law firms, insurance companies, property managers, developers, land planners, public utilities, state and municipal agencies, architects and landscape architects, engineers, universities and schools, and home owners.
We are respected in legal, environmental, and regulatory arenas as they pertain to trees, plants, and vegetation. We provide third party advice, expert testimony in the courtroom, and, for insurance companies, determination of the value of tree damage or loss. We make frequent appearances at public and municipal assemblies such as design review boards, planning commissions, and city council meetings to provide expertise and opinion regarding development related tree issues.
We maintain current knowledge of and adherence to local tree preservation ordinances and vegetation management requirements, as well as local and state environmental regulations, including those associated with the California Environmental Quality Act. We collaborate with designers and contractors of all types, and understand the myriad components associated with land development.
Our office is located in the North Bay region of the greater San Francisco Bay Area. We serve and welcome clients throughout the west coast vicinity and beyond.
